Nestled among boulders and pines, Goatbarn Lane sits quietly in its Rocky Mountain landscape.  The design distills form to its essentials, allowing a compact footprint and minimal palette to carry maximum impact.

A simple plan and exposed structure create a calm, direct connection to the land. The steel-clad volume tucks beside a protective rock outcropping, while a cantilevered platform reaches toward snow-capped peaks. Steel legs anchored into bedrock allow the bedroom to hover above an untouched hillside. These deliberate ties to the land create a sense of abundance within just 1,860 square feet.

Light, air, and views drive the design. Floor-to-ceiling casement windows provide passive cooling, while a radiant slab and wood stove deliver efficient heat. Continuous exterior insulation creates an airtight envelope.

A 4 kW rooftop photovoltaic array powers the net-zero-electric home. High-efficiency appliances, all-LED lighting, and ample natural daylight keep energy use low.
